YOUR INFORMATION

Privacy notice

Last updated: 6 October 2026

This notice explains how House Rota uses your information, including during testing. Bryett Digital Ltd operates the app and this website.

Who is responsible

Bryett Digital Ltd, company number 17500076, operates House Rota and is responsible for the personal information described here. Contact accounts@houserota.com for privacy questions or requests.

Registered in England and Wales. Registered office: Ship & Anchor, Station Road, Ford, United Kingdom, BN18 0BJ.

Information used by the app

Information comes from you, other members of your household and the services used to operate House Rota. First names are sufficient for household profiles; nicknames are optional. Avoid adding sensitive information to task names or uploading photos that reveal private documents or other people's personal details.

Why we use it

We use account and household information to provide sign-in, shared tasks, syncing, reminders and contribution calculations. We use support information to answer enquiries and resolve problems, and technical information to operate and protect the service.

Your email address and account information are needed to create and provide an account. Room photos and reminders are optional. You can remove photos or turn off reminders in the app or your phone settings. Allowing a phone permission is separate from the legal basis for processing information.

Contribution calculations help households discuss how they share chores. They are not used to make legal or similarly significant decisions about you.

Who can see household information

Household information is shared with other accounts that have joined that household. Invited members can see shared names, tasks, contribution settings and room photos. Do not invite someone unless you are comfortable sharing this information with them.

Authorised support access may be needed to investigate a problem. Service providers process information to operate the service; household data is not intended to be publicly searchable.

Services used

Supabase provides account authentication, database storage and room-photo storage. Cloudflare hosts the website and provides domain and email-routing services. Resend delivers account emails. Incoming support emails are routed by Cloudflare to a Microsoft Outlook/Hotmail mailbox, where support correspondence is stored and handled.

The reviewed app build has no advertising or third-party analytics SDK. The website does not include an advertising tracker or analytics script. Hosting providers can still record technical requests. Account sessions and account-specific household data are stored on your phone to keep you signed in and support syncing. The app does not offer one account another account’s stored household. Deleting an account clears that account’s stored household data on the device used for deletion; other household members’ offline copies update when their apps reconnect and sync.

We do not sell personal information or use household information for advertising. This website does not set analytics or advertising cookies. Our providers may use necessary technical measures to deliver and secure their services.

Where information is processed

The primary Supabase database is hosted in London, United Kingdom (eu-west-2), as confirmed in the project dashboard on 6 October 2026.

Other service operations, account emails, technical records and support correspondence may be processed outside the UK, including in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. The London database location does not mean all processing takes place in the UK.

Supabase, Cloudflare and Resend publish data-processing terms that provide contractual safeguards for relevant UK transfers, including the UK Addendum to standard contractual clauses. Microsoft describes its international processing and safeguards in its privacy statement. You can read the Supabase terms, Cloudflare terms, Resend terms and Microsoft privacy statement. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your information.

How long information is kept

Account and household data are used while the account or household remains active. You can delete your account in Household settings or contact support if you cannot access the app.

Deleting an invited member’s account

Deletion removes the sign-in account, household access and active member profile automatically. The person is removed from future task assignments and rotation. Shared tasks keep their remaining assignees; tasks assigned only to the departing person become unassigned and are marked for reassignment. The organiser sees an in-app notice on their next successful sync.

Completed task records remain with the household and display the departing person as Former member. A generic history reference keeps these records connected. It has no login link or availability information and cannot receive assignments.

These history references and task records remain as part of the surviving household’s data; deleting the organiser’s account removes that household. The generic history label does not mean all shared content is anonymous: task text, photos or information entered by other members may still identify someone. Contact accounts@houserota.com about personal information that remains.

Deleting the organiser’s account

Deletion also removes the household they organise and its House Rota data for all members. The app warns the organiser before they confirm.

After deletion

Recreating an account with the same email does not restore access to the previous household; a fresh invitation is needed. Other members’ phones may retain older offline copies until they reconnect and sync. We do not promise that every provider-held log or other copy disappears at the moment of account deletion.

Ordinary support correspondence is kept for 12 months after the enquiry closes, then deleted. Where an ongoing dispute requires longer retention, we keep only the necessary information, review the need regularly and delete it when it is no longer needed.

Service providers may retain operational and security records for their documented retention periods. These are separate from the household information you see in the app. Where backups or exports contain personal information, deletion from the live service may not remove those copies immediately; copies must be kept only as needed for recovery, security or a legal obligation.

Children and families

For the initial launch, accounts are intended for adults aged 18 or over. Parents or guardians can add and manage children’s household profiles without a separate email address or login for the child. Profiles can use a first name; nicknames are optional. They contain the child’s household role, available time, tasks and completion information and are shared with accounts in that household. Parents or guardians should explain this sharing to their children in an age-appropriate way and avoid adding unnecessary personal information.

Independent child accounts and parent-approved child logins are not part of the initial launch plan.

Signup asks account holders to confirm they are aged 18 or over. This is a self-declaration rather than verified proof of age. Household organisers can remove a child’s profile through household settings. Contact us about any personal information remaining in shared content or history.

A short explanation for children

An adult can add your first name and the jobs you help with. People invited into your household can see that information and which jobs have been finished. It is not a public profile. Ask your parent or guardian if you want something changed or removed, or contact us for help. Children have privacy rights too.

Your choices and rights

You can edit household information, remove room photos, change reminders and request account deletion. Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict its use, object to certain uses and receive a portable copy. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it.

Email accounts@houserota.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
